Mini Haul: Nars & Philosophy

Man, it's been awhile since my first and last post! Right after going live with my blog, my computer took an official dump and I got unmotivated. However, I am back and ready to commit. My goal is to post at least twice a week for now...

On to the haul! I only picked up 3 things because I'm trying to be cautious.

Since I moved to Phoenix a little over a month ago my face has broken out pretty bad. Not sure what the cause is, but I can't sum it up to anything else. Originally, I had just been using Philosophy Purity facial cleanser. It was doing a fine job of keeping my skin clear, except for some tiny bumps I've had below my ears that just won't seem to go away. I didn't want to spend too much at Sephora so thought I'd just try Clear Days Ahead($21) from the same Philosophy line. I feel it's too soon to tell how well the product is working, but the painful breakouts have definitely gone down. I'm thinking I need to get a spot treatment as well.

I also purchased the Nars Light Reflecting Pressed Setting Powder($35.) I've been eyeing this for awhile and I can say now that this product is AMAZING. I was worried about it creating a white cast, which I got with the Makeup Forever HD Microfinish Powder, but it doesn't. I'll definitely be doing a full review on this product.

Lastly, I've really been loving the grayish/taupe colored eyeshadow I've been seeing everywhere and since I don't own any, I had to grab Nars' Ashes to Ashes($24). It's described as a violet-brown with shimmer - pretty much a soft taupe. I debated between this or the new Urban Decay Naked2 Basics Palette($29) which I could have gotten for basically the same price! Now that I just looked up the palette again, I might have to get it anyway. The taupe colors are SO pretty and Urban Decay makes such smooth eyeshadows. I'll do a FOTD with this soon.

Hope you enjoyed the mini haul. I'll be back later this week. Let me know if you'll be trying any of these products or what you've recently picked up.

FOTD 6.25.14

So the fact that this post is a few days late tells me that I'm off to a great start, right???

Anyways, I received a lot of compliments on my makeup the other day and thought this would be perfect to start off with.

Face:
☆Smashbox Photo Finish Primer in Light
☆Nars Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer in Cuba
& Makeup Forever Mat Velvet + in 55 (mixed together)
☆Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer in Biscuit
☆bareMinerals Concealer in Well-Rested
☆Makeup Forever Pro Finish in 163
☆Nars Casino bronzer
☆Nars Taos blush
☆Nars Albatross highlighter

Besides the fact that the MUFE mat velvet foundation in 55 is too light for me alone, mixing it with the Nars tinted moisturizer gives me a great combination of a matte finish with a glow. It's perfect for my typically oily skin.

Eyes:
☆Lorac Unzipped Palette
(The first product I ever purchased from Sephora that started my sick obsession.)

▪Unreal & Unbelievable over my eyelids
▪Undiscovered in the inner corners
▪Undercover for the brow bone
☆Clinique Quickliner Intense in Intense Chocolate
☆Diorshow Blackout Mascara in Kohl Black 099
☆Anastasia Brow Wiz in Ebony

Lips:
OCC Lip Tar in Grandma & Kava Kava

Thank you for checking out my very first blog post! I will be posting FOTDs, product reviews, and eventually touch in on fashion & style. I will also throw in reviews of products that I deem safe for my kids.

SIDE NOTE: If you happen to be interested in health & fitness, I will be starting one that tracks my weight loss progress & it will incorporate plenty of motivation and tips. Check back in for more details this week!
